Sweet Potato Soap

Sweet potatoes are a nutritionally rich food. They are loaded with
Vitamin C, High in Calcium, Potassium, and Beta-carotene
which converts to Vitamin A in your body.

Because Sweet Potatoes have a high level of Vitamin A and beta-carotene it is a super food for your skin.

It got me thinking about making a Sweet Potato Soap!

For this soap I used:
Cocoa Butter
Coconut Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Olive Oil
Palm Oil
Sunflower Oil
Sodium Hydroxide
Arizona rain water
Titanium Dioxide
Pureed Sweet Potatoes
Greek Yogurt
and Rice Flower & Shea Type Fragrance Oil.

Cut the next day

Creamy Carrot Soap

I have been wanting to make a carrot soap for sometime now.
I was wanting to use organically grown carrots. Knowing
an acquaintance of mine was growing her own carrots, I asked
if she wouldn't mind sparing a few.
Many thanks to her generosity!

I was so excited to get these babies in a puree!

I peeled them,
(each carrot was as long as one of my fingers)

cut them into small slices, and added them to a small pot with some water, and let them cook away.

I ran them through our Ninja and pressed then through a fine mesh strainer.
And here is the puree!
You may be saying: wow....that is not much for all that work!
well, you are right!
But....all I wanted to put in my soap
recipe was about 2-3 oz. This is 3.1 ounces of fresh
organic carrots!

I also put in some Greek Yogurt.

It made my soap a perfect color.

I took out about 12 oz of the soap batter and
added some Titanium Dioxide to it to lighten
it up a bit.
I was going for a two toned creamed orange look.

All was going well.

I poured the bulk of the soap batter in the bottom half of my soap mold.

I then placed in melt & pour curls.
(I made the melt & pour from scratch)

I was pouring in the 12 ounces of the lighter batter
on top
when I remember I forgot one important thing:

THE FRAGRANCE OIL! Yikes! many of you have done that? sheesh-louise!
Where was my head?! LoL

I didn't think I had much choice here, so I slowly poured in
the fragrance oil (with the soap IN the mold) and gently stirred it all in. much for it turning out the way you wanted
it to!
The curls were now moved, and I was not sure how that was going to look.
The two color was now just color.

I have to admit, I was not totally unhappy with this soap!

You never know what might or might not happen, and
You never know what you will or will not get when you are soaping. is all good!

Quinoa (pronounce: Keen-Wa) is a wonderful grain chalk full of protein, has more calcium than milk, and is a great source of iron, phosphorus, B vitamins and E!

Quinoa satisfies you more and provides lots of energy than white rice and white pasta. The reason being it digest slower.

After a big meal of white bread, rice, and pasta you can
have a warm happy satisfied feeling. The reason is your metabolism is running high.

After awhile you start to feel that sleepy don't want to move feeling.
This is the result of eating simply carbohydrates. They turn into sugar, get your motor going, and then you run out of steam.

Unlike simple carbohydrates which break down easily into sugars, complex carbohydrate burns and digest slower, and helps control and stabilize blood-sugar levels.

Some complex carbohydrates are high in fiber and protein:
Kidney beans, Lentils, Navy beans, Pinto bean, Split Peas, and....Quinoa.

I have been trying to eat Quinoa, again, the last few weeks. I have been searching
for recipes that include Quinoa and have found a number of them.

One recipe I found is:
popped quinoa and cheesy eggs

serves one

1/2 cup cooked Quinoa
2 ounces cheese, sliced thin
2 eggs
sea salt

Spray skillet and heat to medium high. Add quinoa and cook for several minutes, until it begins to crisp and pop. Make two wells in the Quinoa, crack eggs into wells. Top with cheese slices and continue to cook a few minutes. Cover with lid for an additional minute or so, to cook the egg and melt the cheese. Salt to taste.

Tip: Rinse Quinoa in hot water, or soak for 20 minutes, then rinse to get rid of the bitter taste.

What do I put in my Lotion Bars

Lotion Bar

Tangerine 2
Lemongrass 10
Oatmeal Milk & Honey 5

Olive Oil, which is rich in mono-unsaturated fats, anti-inflammatory agents, ormeg-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Has healing qualities, but also has a natural, deep penetration moisturizer.
Coconut Oil,  Coconut oil can be used as a skin moisturizer, helping with dry skin.
Sweet Almond Oil, is a good on the skin as an emollient, is rich in vitamins A, D, and E. Contains linoleic and oleic acids. It also has emollient qualities, which softens and soother your skin. Because of it's lower level of omega 6 and 9 it is less greasy and absorbs into the skin wonderfully.  Your skin is allowed to benefit from the nutrients in this oil.
Sunflower Oil, can retain moisture in the skin, and has a high content of natural Vitamin E oil.
Shea Butter, enough can not be said about Shea Butter. It has healing qualities, contains vitamins A and E. There is evidence to suggest that cinnamic acid esters in  Shea fat help to prevent skin damage from he ultraviolet radiation.
Cocoa Butter,  has soothing, moisturizing, and emollient qualities. It is one of the most stables fats known and has natural antioxidants that can prevent rancidity.
Cocoa butter can quickly and easily be absorbed by the skin, able
to penetrate  deep into the dermis layer, just beneath the epidermis
(the top layer of the skin), where it has the ability to hold onto moisture. Because of this cocoa butter also makes it easier for damaged skin to be repaired. The skin has to be hydrated for the body to grow new skin and Cocoa butter has the ability to do this.
Vitamin E Oil, Vitamin E Oil promotes healing. It is a strong antioxidants that prevent premature aging.
